Levels II & III Classes

Class recommendations are thoughtfully made with each student’s unique skill level and growth in mind, recognizing that age is only a guideline and does not define ability in our student-centered space. Contact us at wellspring@wellspringdance.org if you would like to talk about your student’s class placement.

Modern II & III

Modern II: Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. (Ages 11-13)
Modern III: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m. (Ages 14+; open to experienced dancers and capped at age 25)

Modern technique classes focus on the foundations of Modern Dance, based in the Hawkins, Graham, Limòn, Cunningham and Horton techniques. Body alignment, strength, flexibility and stamina are developed, and rhythm studies and musicality are studied. Important elements of dance are explored through composition and improvisation studies that are precursors to choreography and continue to cultivate the creativity of the individual student. Led by Kaitlyn Pollock, students are immersed in modern styles and approaches to grow their confidence and artistry.

Class placement is determined by proven skill. All students will be tested during class in May to determine their advancement in level.
