Submission for the 17th Annual RADFest will open on August 1, 2025.

  • Selected Artists announced: November 10, 2024

PRESENTING ARTISTS RECEIVE

Selected artists receive full technical and production support. In addition, visiting artists receive a support stipend, lodging assistance, photo and video documentation, and free promotional and media coverage. Opportunities for professional development; master classes, lectures, discussion panels, networking events, coffee talk and discussion groups, as well as free and reduced performance events and concerts. 

SELECTION PROCESS

The festival is a 4-day juried event at the Epic Center in Kalamazoo, MI. RADFest is a dance festival featuring “alternative” dance. The festival focuses on artists who dabble in emerging, experimental, radical, and boundary-breaking choreography. A panel of 5-6 choreographers and performing arts advocates from around the country will review applications and select presenting artists.

PERFORMANCE SPACES

The festival takes place downtown Kalamazoo Michigan at the Epic Center. The Epic Center is the home to three beautiful spaces where festival concerts will be scheduled.

ELIGIBILITY SPECIFICS

  • The Youth Performance Series is open to choreographers age 18 and under, and dancers age 18 and under. 

  • Michigan Made is open to makers who created in Michigan, and/or choreographed by a resident of Michigan, and/or performed by artists who reside in Michigan. 

  • Durational or Movement Installation program is open to artists who create works that are meant to be durational.

Piece length: Short Works Series (Maximum length 12 min.), Michigan Made (Maximum length 12 min.), Youth Performance Series (Maximum length 10 min.), Alternative Space (Maximum length 30 min.), and DanceFilm series (Maximum length 12 min.).

FINANCIAL HARDSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

For waiving or reducing the 2024 submission fee.
