Mission

Youth Company exists to explore and establish authentic voices through all aspects of dance performance while building community.

What is Youth Company?

Youth Company, FKA Youth Performing Ensemble (YPE), was created in September 2019. The company is a selected group of experienced dancers enrolled in Wellspring Academy technique classes who participate, learn, and perform repertoire choreographed especially for them.

Through Youth Company, dancers engage in a pre-professional environment while building skills, confidence, and creative voice. Led by Company Member & Youth Company Coordinator Angel Sutton, Youth Company (YC) continues to evolve as a student-centered experience.

Students take weekly company class and experiences rehearsals within the same framework as our professional company. Dancers have opportunities to work with emerging and established guest choreographers and perform at community-wide events.

Youth Company has performed at Downtown Kalamazoo’s Skeletour, Boos in the Zoo, the Young Dancer’s Initiative Winter Showcase, Downtown Kalamazoo’s Art Hop, KIA Young Artists Event, RADFest Young Artists Series, Youth Dance Showcase, our Academy Student Concert, and the Kalamazoo County Fair.
