Dance Fundamentals I

Mondays 4:25PM - 5:05PM

Dance Fundamentals I, Ages 5-6

This class encourages creativity, builds body awareness, and explores basic locomotive movement. Dance Fundamentals prepares students for future classes as they discover the excitement of dance. Students who have mastered skills in Dance Fundamentals I will be placed in Dance Fundamentals II.

Dance Fundamentals II

Mondays 5:10PM - 5:50PM

Dance Fundamentals II, Ages 7-8

This class builds on locomotive movement and the movement foundation established in DF I. Dance Fundamentals II introduces the young student to the fundamental dance techniques of both Modern Dance and Ballet, which are explored with longer phrasing and more attention to detail. Students who have mastered skills in Dance Fundamentals II will be evaluated to progress into our pre-professional training program.

Ballet I

Mondays 6:05PM - 7:05PM

Ballet I, Ages 8-10

This class focuses on the basics of Ballet technique. Classes consist of floor and barre exercises followed by center work and across-the-floor combinations. Classes are a nurturing, non-competitive, yet rigorous environment where students work through the basic foot, arm, and body positions to offer ease in moving through space. Working with our bodies to utilize ballet technique, students will cultivate an understanding of artistry that builds health and wholeness. Body strength, flexibility, and stamina are developed and rhythm studies and musicality are studied. Body alignment and placement are taught from a somatic approach. Class placement is determined by proven skill. All students will be tested during class in May to determine their advancement in level.
60 minute classes

What to Wear:
Black Leotard, Pink and/or flesh toned tights and shoes, hair secured, no jewelry.

Ballet II

Mondays 7:10PM - 8:10 PM

Ballet II, Ages 11-13

This class focuses on the basics of Ballet technique. Classes consist of floor and barre exercises followed by center work and across-the-floor combinations. Modern II, Ages 11-13

Modern technique classes focus on the foundations of Modern Dance, based in the Hawkins, Graham, Limòn, Cunningham and Horton techniques. Body alignment, strength, flexibility and stamina are developed, and rhythm studies and musicality are studied. The basic elements of dance are explored through composition and improvisation studies that are precursors to choreography and continue to cultivate the creativity of the individual. Class placement is determined by proven skill. All students will be tested during class in May to determine their advancement in level.
60 minute classes

Creative Movement

Wednesdays 4:15PM - 4:45PM

Creative Movement, Ages 3-4

This highly active class encourages creativity and builds body awareness through stretching and playful movement. ‘Creative Movement’ builds interpersonal social and spatial skills, introduces dance terminology, and is a lot of fun! Students who have mastered skills in Creative Movement will be placed in Dance Fundamentals I.
30 minutes.

Jazz I

Wednesdays 5:00PM - 6:00PM

Jazz I, Ages 8-10

This class will focus on dynamic technique and combinations. Class consists of a warm-up with center exercises and isolations, across the floor work, and combinations that focus on expression and various jazz dance styles, all set to a fast-paced soundtrack of music. In our safe dance space, students will cultivate an understanding of artistry that builds health and wholeness. Students will not only be learning the technique of jazz dance, but they will also learn about the history of jazz dance and its thread to other dance styles. Class placement is determined by proven skill. All students will be tested during class in May to determine their advancement in level.
