UNBOUND: Spring Concert of Dance

Wellspring Spring Concert of Dance

Combining old and new repertoire, Wellspring presents stunning performances of works ranging from 1992 to 2020. The pandemic caused a two-year delay of the premiere of Ms. Terry's Planets, a collaboration between Wellspring and the extraordinary San Francisco-based piano duo ZOFO, commissioned by the Gilmore Piano Fest. Planets is a cosmic journey based on celestial imagery, to the music of Urmas Sisask and David Lang. Also included in the program is the revival of Ms. Terry's 1992 duet Infolding, danced with great reverence and precision by Alexis Harris and Carolyn Pampalone Rabbers, and the revival of one of Ms. Terry's most treasured and iconic works titled Only In Passing, a rousing work danced by the whole company with fresh energy and tremendous dynamic range.

Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers is excited to kick off our 41st season with UNBOUND, the Fall Concert of Dance, November 19-21st.

To celebrate our return to live performance, we have gone deep into the archives to revive Infolding, a duet to be danced by Alexis Harris and Carolyn Pampalone Rabbers. The dance, which Ms. Terry originally choreographed in 1992, pays homage to our origins in the Erick Hawkins technique. Also being restaged is Ms. Terry's Femmeasthesia, a haunting trio from 2016, to be performed by Marisa Bianan and new company members Emily McKee and Angel Sutton. Rounding out the program is a solo for Andrew Neidbala called Refracted; a new work by Marisa Bianan called Take Back the Sun, a quartet to a rousing romp by the Red Sea Pedestrians; and a revival of Old World New, a classic piece by Ms. Terry, to be danced by the whole company.

Evening shows will be held Friday (8 pm) & Saturday (8 pm) with a matinee (2 pm) on Sunday, November 21st. Tickets for all performances will be available October 15, 2021, by visiting wellspringdance.org or the Community Box Office located in the Epic Center downtown Kalamazoo.
