Adult Class Descriptions


Adult Beginner Modern

Mondays, 7:45 - 8:45pm
Ages 15+. Dancers focus on a fluid and effortless style of movement to contemporary music. Class starts with developing the body from the floor to standing, working through Laban and Bartenieff connections. Upon standing, the rest of the class focuses on classic Modern Techniques (Limon, Gramham, Taylor, & Hawkins) fused with today's approaches (Countertechnique, Gaga, Release). Class can consist of across the floor, improv, and usually ends with a center combination.
60 minute class

What to Wear: Any form-fitting clothing you can move in, bare feet. (Socks for warm up)


Adult Contemporary & Floorwork

Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:15pm
Ages 15+. An alternative to a traditional modern class, our Adult Contemporary offering focuses on floorwork, grounding practices, and fluidity. Contemporary dance blends a variety of techniques and gives students opportunities to work on artistic expression and strengthen their movement vocabulary. 
75 minute class

What to Wear: Any form-fitting clothing you can move in, bare feet. (Socks for warm up)


Adult Contemporary Ballet

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:15pm
Ages 15+
. This class focuses on the basics of Ballet technique. Classes consist of floor and barre exercises followed by center work and across-the-floor combinations. Classes are a nurturing, non-competitive, yet rigorous environment where students work through the basic foot, arm, and body positions to offer ease in moving through space. Working with our bodies to utilize ballet technique, students will cultivate an understanding of artistry that builds health and wholeness. Body strength, flexibility, and stamina are developed and rhythm studies and musicality are studied. Body alignment and placement are taught from a somatic approach
