YPE Mission
Explore and establish authentic voices through all aspects of dance performance while building community.
What is it?
Our Youth Performing Ensemble (YPE) was created September 9th, 2019.
YPE is a selected group of dancers enrolled in Wellspring Dance Academy to participate, learn, and perform repertoire choreographed especially for them.
Our 2022-2023 Youth Performing Ensemble Dancers had opportunities to learn from guest choreographers, and had a busy performance season! YPE performed at Downtown Kalamazoo’s Skeletour, the Young Dancer’s Initiative Winter Showcase, Downtown Kalamazoo’s October Art Hop, KIA Young Artists Event, RADFest, Youth Dance Showcase, our Academy Student Concert, and the Kalamazoo County Fair!

Why do you dance?
I dance because I love to perform.
How long have you been a YPE member?
This is my first year!
What is your favorite dance move?
I love modern seated rolls.
What are you hoping to improve on throughout this season?
I hope to improve my pirouettes and lame ducks

Why do you dance?
Because it lets me explore and feel my emotions in a free space.
How long have you been a YPE member?
This is my second year with YPE.
What is your favorite dance move?
I love pirouettes!
What are you hoping to improve on throughout this season?
I hope to improve my jazz technique.

Why do you dance?
I dance because I find it very therapeutic. It's almost a way to distract myself from school and family problems.
How long have you been a YPE member?
This is my fourth year dancing with YPE, but I've been dancing since I was 3!
What is your favorite dance move?
My favorite dance move is an extension. Not really a specific move, but there's so many forms of an extension.
What are you hoping to improve on throughout this season?
I'm hoping to improve on my technique in modern, ballet, and jazz. I also want to improve on having a positive mindset.

I dance because it is a healthy pathway to channel my emotions into and because dance is influential in my life

I love petit allegro in general
