  • Cori Terry: Friday @ 10:00 am ("Repertory with Wellspring")

Ms. Terry will teach a short warm-up, then teach segments of her choreography along with Wellspring dancers. Two different works will be highlighted; first, a section from "Half A World Away," which includes the artful manipulation of sets within the rhythmical framework of music by "Aphex Twin", and then a fast-paced section from "36 Limbs" to the dynamic music of Michigan composer Bill Ryan.

  • Sharon Mansur: Saturday @ 10:00 am ("Contact Improvisation for Everyone")

Explore the curiously playful and shamelessly social duet dance form of Contact Improvisation (CI). Starting with basic perceptual and physical skills related to gravity, weight, momentum and flow, we will cultivate delicious dances for two. This workshop will lead participants gently through warmups and work on CI skills such as falling, rolling, point of contact, giving and taking weight, leading to an open jam that supports the joy of dancing with others. Open to people of all levels of movement experience.

  • Anne Burnidge: Saturday @ 12:00 pm ("Bartenieff Fundamentals for Dancers")

This class will introduce basic exercises and concepts from Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF) and is created specifically for dancers and dance teachers interested in increasing movement efficiency and expressivity. Bartenieff Fundamentals a series of principles and exercises developed by Irmgard Bartenieff, a student and colleague of Rudolf Laban. By identifying an individual's movement patterns, BF offers possibilities for personal growth and change, cultivating greater inner connectivity and facilitating greater outer expressivity. This movement session will focus on the transference of knowledge/experiences/sensations between floor and standing exercises, exploring concepts that include breath support, weight transfer, dynamic alignment, developmental patterning, initiation and sequencing, core support, and rotary factors. Please bring a towel, mat, or sweatshirt if possible.

  • Matthew Farmer: Sunday @ 11:00 am ("Modern Technique")

This modern dance technique class emphasizes athleticism and floor work. The class combines the concepts of European Dance Theatre, the use of contraction as a means for freedom and energetic explosion, and the consumption of negative space through movement that reaches beyond the immediate exterior of a dancer.
