Painfree Dancing and Injury Prevention

Join us for this special event lead by Teri Proper, BS, PTA! 

In this class you will learn about common dance injuries and the most common dysfunctions leading to them. You will also learn when to determine if you need to take time off for an injury/went to seek medical attention/when it is appropriate to return to dance post injury. The second half of this class will be lab intensive you will learn what exercises are the most important for injury prevention. Key muscle groups that need to be strengthened/kept flexible to keep dancing injury free. All class participants will be provided a dance conditioning/strengthening program.

For ages 16+.

About the instructor:

Teri is a life-long dancer/dance teacher. She holds a baccalaureate degree in Science/Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from WMU, and an Associate of Applied Science from Kellogg Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She has been a practicing orthopedic Physical Therapist Assistant for 13 years and is currently employed at Agility Physical Therapy and Sports Performance. She specializes in performing arts and dance medicine. She is the current co-lead of the dance medicine program at Agility. She also hold a speciality certification from the American Physical Therapy Association in musculoskeletal condition.
